Free of preservatives, dyes, or chemical additives, and in keeping with the Clean Label trend , the drink is composed solely of tequila, passion fruit, lime, and agave syrup—ingredients handpicked to create the balanced and delicious flavor we love so much. What tequila is used in Quetzalli?
Quetzalli believes it's possible to drink with quality and innovation, with a complete sensory experience. The first part of this process, of course, was carefully selecting the tequila .
First, let's talk a little about this spirit in general. It's a distilled beverage made from a specific type of agave, called blue agave. There are different types of tequila , and their quality makes all the difference.
Mexican producers cultivate blue agave for at least 8 years.
It is possible to use younger agaves, but this is the minimum time for optimal maturation, as it is a slow-growing succulent plant.
The more mature the tequila, the better the final product . From there, it is harvested and begins the process of being transformed into a drink, undergoing stages of cooking, fermentation, and distillation.
In Mexico, there are several types of tequila that vary according to quality
of blue agave, its planting method, the production process and also the aging time of the drink.
During the process of creating Quetzalli, we researched multiple suppliers and tested several bases until we made our choice, but in Mexico as a whole, diversity is the hallmark of the industry.
Therefore, the variety of options is a cultural characteristic of the country. Drink menus in bars and restaurants offer a wide selection, ranging from blanco to extra añejo, to suit all tastes. In Brazil, the practice is not yet as widespread, as the drink is not present in the national sociocultural context. One of Quetzalli's pillars is precisely applying this knowledge and bringing new options to the Brazilian public.
The distillate used in Quetzalli is a blanco version, meaning it doesn't undergo an aging process and is blended with another alcohol, not 100% agave. This ensures the drink's more neutral flavor profile without losing the flavor characteristics of blue agave.
It comes from the Arandas region in the Mexican state of Jalisco and arrives here in Brazil in bulk to be mixed with other ingredients. In fact, we're the only Brazilian company authorized to import the beverage this way, unbottled, for use in the manufacture of other products. Cool, right?
Why
passion fruit?
And why not passion fruit? Here at Quetzalli, we believe that nothing needs to be the same, so we decided to combine the Brazilian flavor of passion fruit with the Mexican flavor of tequila . To achieve this, we blended our base with passion fruit pulp (yes, the product is made with natural fruit: no syrup, extract, or flavoring), which guarantees the authentic, tropical flavor of the blend!
Smoother than straight tequila, our drink can be enjoyed however makes the most sense for you. When straight, passion fruit stands out for its relaxing, good-vibes feel, making it the perfect drink for the beach or poolside.

The touch
of the lemon
Is there lemon in Quetzalli? Yes, there is!
In our formulation, we use lemon juice (also natural), which contrasts with the other flavors and further accentuates the drink's citrusy, refreshing flavor. Besides being a well-known ingredient here in Brazil for the spirit's shot-by-shot ritual (accompanied by salt and a lemon wedge), it ensures the balance of the ingredients, making Quetzalli even more perfect . Agave syrup: what is it?
Now that you know that agave is a very special plant, you won't be surprised to learn that what cuts the sourness of the fruit is its syrup, right? Similar in appearance to honey, this natural sweetener is also native to Mexico and known for its antioxidant and nutritious properties. And no wonder! It has a low glycemic index, improves vitamin absorption, and is also a powerful natural anti-inflammatory. And, most importantly, it's up to 50% sweeter than sugar.
The syrup is 100% vegetable and is produced by cooking and reducing agave nectar (the kind that's fermented to become tequila!) and can be used in food and drink preparations, which has made it popular. Widely used in mixology, it mixes easily with water, creating a very smooth and pleasant texture for drinks. This extra dose of agave provides the sweetness that contrasts with the tartness of the lemon and passion fruit combination.
